Situation: After selling the data and analytics startup Valen Analytics, founder Dax Craig joined up with John Swigart of Esurance fame to start a new MGA called Pie Insurnace for small business workers’ compensation, a market they believed was ripe for disruption. Having worked with Fusion for nearly a decade through exit on Valen, Dax enlisted Fusion to launch the company and get it some initial buzz in the market.
Strategy: Our approach was to use the hot investment market for Insurtech at the time to propel early awareness of the company, and then create a steady stream of smart thought leadership content to show that their new model was far more advanced than traditional workers’ compensation distribution.
Results: We secured coverage for Pie Insurance across top-tier technology and business media outlets like TechCrunch and WSJ, as well over 50 insurance media articles within its first year and a half of business.
