One Company’s Loss is Another’s Gain

Situation: Optical Zonu is a leading provider of RF over fiber transport solutions for the wireless and defense/aerospace industries. OZC is the only company fully committed to delivering custom solutions for every deployment, with easy centralized management and patented fiber fault detection. It offers a wide range of turnkey, modular, and OEM form factors to support satellite antenna remoting and RF signal transport, as well as satellite phone and GPS distribution in buildings and tunnels. The portfolio also includes solutions for N+1 ground station redundancy architectures and switched delay lines for phased array antennas and radar calibration.

Strategy: Optical Zonu wanted to take advantage of the discontinued optoelectronics business of its competitor Emcore, but felt they only had a few weeks to capitalize. Fusion came up with the idea to launch an “Emcore Customer Relief Program” and conducted media outreach around it to gain awareness and new resellers.

Results: Secured dozens of placements in targeted vertical media, resulting in Optical Zonu gaining five new resellers seeking equipment after Emcore dissolved its business.
